President Tokayev Embarks on Working Visit to North Kazakhstan Region

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev's official visit to the North Kazakhstan region commenced with an aerial survey of the Kyzylzhar district, the outskirts of Petropavlovsk, and the Sergeevsky reservoir.

During the visit, Gauez Nurmukhambetov, the Akim (governor) of the region, briefed the President on the current situation, highlighting the ongoing floodwave affecting several districts including Kyzylzhar, Yesil, Shal akyn, and the city of Petropavlovsk. In response to the crisis, a state of emergency has been declared in six districts.

As of now, over 2,000 residential buildings have been inundated, leading to the evacuation of 10,345 individuals. President Tokayev’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the pressing challenges faced by residents in the affected areas.
