President Tokayev Holds Talks with Chinese Deputy Premier Liu Guozhong

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, welcomed Liu Guozhong, Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, during his official visit to Kazakhstan.

The discussions centered on the current status and future outlook of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, along with the progress made in implementing agreements previously established by President Tokayev and President Xi Jinping.

President Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s steadfast commitment as a reliable partner to China, emphasizing the priority of elevating bilateral relations to new heights.

“I am pleased to note that the comprehensive strategic partnership and eternal friendship between Kazakhstan and China continue to progress positively and are future-oriented,” stated President Tokayev. “China stands as Kazakhstan’s foremost trade and economic partner, with bilateral trade reaching a record $40 billion by the end of 2023. We aim to elevate this figure to $100 billion, a goal we believe is achievable.”

In response, Deputy Premier Liu Guozhong acknowledged the positive momentum in China-Kazakhstan cooperation, expressing gratitude for President Tokayev’s significant contributions to bilateral relations.

“Your longstanding and amicable relationship with the Chinese people has greatly contributed to the development of Sino-Kazakh relations, which the Chinese side deeply appreciates,” remarked Liu Guozhong. “Under your leadership, Kazakhstan will undoubtedly progress towards building a powerful and prosperous New Kazakhstan. China and Kazakhstan are not only good neighbors and reliable partners but also close friends who complement each other.”

The discussions also delved into opportunities for bolstering collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, transportation, energy, and tourism, with an emphasis on advancing cultural and humanitarian ties.
