Kazakhstan Flood Update: Thousands Return Home as Operations Continue

Amid ongoing flood challenges in Kazakhstan, progress has been made as 18,651 individuals have returned to their homes, thanks to effective anti-flood measures. Since the onset of the flood, a total of 117,694 people, including 43,931 children, have been rescued and evacuated. Additionally, 113,852 farm animals have been safeguarded.

While emergency operations persist in flood-prone regions, 6,887 individuals remain in evacuation centers. Significant efforts have been made to divert water from 4,216 residential buildings and 2,698 courtyards, with millions of cubic meters of meltwater pumped out and tons of inert material laid.

Despite remaining flooded areas in several regions, residents are receiving round-the-clock support from psychologists at the Center for Disaster Medicine, demonstrating ongoing efforts to assist affected communities. The hotline continues to receive calls for assistance as emergency teams remain vigilant and engaged in flood control efforts.

Emergency rescue and flood control efforts involve a substantial workforce and equipment across the affected regions, with volunteers actively participating.

As local emergency situations persist in eight regions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reiterates the importance of adhering to safety measures, urging citizens not to leave their homes or evacuation centers without permission and to ensure children are supervised at all times.
