The President of the Turkic Academy attended the announcement ceremony designating “Anev – the cultural capital of the Turkic world 2024”

This year, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) bestowed the prestigious title of cultural capital of the Turkic world upon the city of Anev.

The ceremony saw the presence of various dignitaries, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, along with esteemed guests from neighboring countries.

The event showcased informative programs highlighting the rich historical background and notable landmarks of Anev. Additionally, a captivating concert featuring talented artists from Turkic nations added vibrancy to the festivities.

Established in 2010 during a gathering of Turkic-speaking leaders, the tradition of annually designating a cultural capital aims to recognize ancient cities with significant historical value and promote their cultural legacy. Last year, the symbolic designation was officially conferred upon Anev during the closing ceremony held in Shusha, Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the opening ceremony, President Shain Mustafayev of the Turkic Academy underscored the significance of archaeological excavations in unearthing centuries-old monuments in Anev. He also extended congratulations to Magtymguly Fragi, the esteemed poet of Turkmenistan, on the occasion of his 300th birth anniversary.

The cultural festivities continued with an international scientific conference titled “Culture of Ancient Anev” on the following day.
