Kazakhstani Women’s Olympic Wrestling Selection Kicks Off in Istanbul

Today, on May 10, the world wrestling selection for women commenced in Istanbul, Turkey, marking the beginning of the fierce competition for Olympic quotas.

The Kazakhstani team, aiming to secure six coveted quotas, enters the competition with determination, as currently, the team has not secured a single ticket to the Olympics.

Here are the first opponents for the Kazakhstani women:

– In the 50 kg category, Laura Ganikyzy will face Thi Nguyen from Vietnam in her opening bout.
– In the 53 kg category, Marina Sedneva’s first challenge will be against Zeltsin Hernandez Guerra from Mexico.
– In the 57 kg category, Laura Almaganbetova, representing Kazakhstan, will kick off her campaign against Youngjin Kwon from South Korea.
– In the 62 kg category, Irina Kuznetsova,, will commence her tournament from the second round.
– In the 68 kg category, Elena Shalygina will also skip the first round.
– in the 76 kg category, Elmira Syzdykova will step onto the mat for her opening bout against Epp Mäe from Estonia.
