Kazakhstan’s Food Contract Corporation and Tajikistan’s State Material Reserves Agency have reached an agreement to expand bilateral food supplies.
Following a record-breaking 2025 where exports hit 1.2 million tons of wheat, Tajikistan aims to import up to 1.3 million tons of grain this season. Given that Tajikistan’s domestic production covers only 40% of its needs, Kazakhstan remains its primary strategic partner for food security.
The cooperation will extend beyond grain to include flour and sunflower oil exports. Additionally, Tajik officials invited the Food Contract Corporation to explore infrastructure investments, specifically the construction of new silos and processing plants in Dushanbe.
This partnership is viewed as a critical step in stabilizing regional food systems and fostering long-term economic trust within Central Asia.
