Erdogan Holds Meeting with First Turkish Astronaut

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed the first Turkish cosmonaut, Alper Gezeravci, in a special reception.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye recently hosted a significant meeting with Alper Gezeravci, the nation’s inaugural astronaut. Gezeravci, who made history as Türkiye’s first cosmonaut, returned to the country following his successful mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

President Erdogan warmly greeted Gezeravci upon his arrival at Esenboga Airport, where the astronaut was joined by members of his family.

During the meeting, Gezeravci presented President Erdogan with the Turkish flag that he proudly carried during his three-week tenure aboard the ISS, along with a commemorative patch marking “Türkiye’s First Manned Space Mission.” In return, President Erdogan offered Gezeravci a timepiece as a token of appreciation.

The event also saw the presence of the President’s spouse, Emine Erdogan, and the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, underscoring the significance of Türkiye’s achievements in space exploration.
