The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has issued an official resolution on declaring that Kazakh boxer Zhanibek Alimkhanuly is the WBO middleweight world champion, Kazinform News Agency reports with reference to the website Sports.kz .
The former title holder Demetrius Andrade refused to defend the title against Zhanibek Alimkhanuly. Instead of defending the title, the American decided to move to the second middleweight and fight for the “temporary” WBO belt with Briton Zach Parker. The organization has already sanctioned thefight and given the parties time to negotiate.
Thus, according to the WBO rules the “temporary” champion status of Zhanibek Alimkhanuly has been elevated to the status of a full-fledged WBO middleweight world champion.
