During his address at the UN General Assembly, President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted that the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is strengthening its position annually and evolving into a vital platform for regional cooperation, TuraNews.kz reports.
Focusing specifically on the development of the OTS, the Turkish leader emphasized that the association serves as an exemplary model demonstrating how regional countries can collaborate around shared interests. According to President Erdogan, significant milestones lie ahead, notably the Summit of Turkic States Leaders in Ankara on October 30, which will unlock new opportunities and perspectives for the organization’s growth.
In his speech, Erdoğan stressed the necessity of addressing key international and regional issues through mutual partnership among neighboring states. He also called for the reform of the UN Security Council, asserting that the current system, where decisive outcomes depend on five permanent members, must change.
Regarding the South Caucasus, Türkiye reaffirmed its support for establishing lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, expressing a positive assessment of both sides’ readiness for settlement. On the situation in Ukraine, Ankara reiterated its stance advocating for an end to the conflict while respecting the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
A substantial part of Erdoğan’s address was dedicated to the situation in Gaza. He reiterated demands for an immediate cessation of military actions, the reconstruction of the sector, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
