Turkish Parliament Grants Approval for Sweden’s NATO Membership

The decision is subject to approval by both the Turkish and Hungarian Presidents.

The Turkish Parliament has endorsed Sweden’s bid to join NATO, with a decisive majority vote (287 out of 346) during a debate on January 23.

The final step now rests with the signing of the decree by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, marking the awaited confirmation of Sweden’s NATO membership.

The decision is subject to approval by both the Turkish and Hungarian Presidents.
