Tasmagambetov: No official requests for Armenia’s CSTO suspension

Imangali Tasmagambetov noted that Yerevan has indeed not recently participated in the work of the organization’s secretariat.

Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), clarified that despite Armenia’s recent absence from CSTO Secretariat meetings, there have been no official requests regarding Armenia’s membership suspension within the organization.

Tasmagambetov emphasized that while Yerevan has not participated in recent CSTO Secretariat activities, the organization continues to operate fully, adhering to CSTO regulations. He highlighted that the Secretariat maintains regular communication with relevant Armenian structures, ensuring transparency regarding decisions made or pending.

Addressing previous statements by Armenian officials, Tasmagambetov stressed that no official request for membership suspension was received from Yerevan. This clarification comes following Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s remarks to France 24, indicating Armenia’s suspension of participation in the CSTO, a claim disputed by the organization’s Secretariat due to the absence of formal notification from Armenia.
