President Tokayev signed the decree on renaming the city of Nur-Sultan

The President of Kazakhstan signed the Decree on renaming Nur-Sultan city as Astana city, the press service of Akorda reports.

“In accordance with Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 8th, 1993 “On the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, I decide:

1. Rename the city of Nur-Sultan – the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the city of Astana – the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

2. This Decree shall enter into force from the date of its first official publication.”
