New Car Sales Surge by 16.4% in Kazakhstan

The official car market of Kazakhstan witnessed a significant boost in March, marking the most successful month of the first quarter of 2024.

According to Kazakhstan Avtokolik Odagy (KAO), a total of 15,203 units of cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in March, along with 725 trucks and buses. This represents a remarkable 16.4% increase compared to March last year. Overall, the first quarter of 2024 saw 39,468 vehicles sold, up 6% from the same period last year.

Anar Makasheva, President of KAO, attributed this surge in sales to active consumer behavior and a highly competitive market offering a wide range of models at attractive prices. Makasheva highlighted the preference of Kazakhstanis for new cars from official dealers, prioritizing reliability and manufacturer warranties.

In the top 10 best-selling cars, Hyundai maintained its lead for the third consecutive month, followed by Kia and Chevrolet. Chery and Changan also secured notable positions on the list, with remarkable sales growth percentages.

The top 10 most popular models in March were led by Hyundai Tucson, followed by Chevrolet Cobalt and Kia Sportage, among others.

For the first quarter, Hyundai retained its top position in brand standings, followed by Kia and Chery. Haval secured the fifth position, reflecting a significant increase in sales compared to the same period last year.

The impressive performance in March underscores the resilience and growth potential of the Kazakh auto retail market, with April expected to provide further insights into market trends and dynamics.
