Kazakh Foreign Minister Highlights Safe Travel Destinations Amid Middle East Tensions

Following his participation in the national referendum, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister, Ermek Kosherbaev, addressed the media regarding safe travel options for citizens amid the escalating situation in the Middle East. The Minister encouraged Kazakhstani travelers to explore domestic tourism, asserting that the nation’s landscapes are on par with international resorts.

Minister Kosherbaev identified several premier local destinations, including:

  • The Caspian Sea coast and the Burabay resort area;

  • The mountainous regions of Almaty and Karkaraly;

  • The natural landscapes of the East Kazakhstan Region.

Highlighting the economic impact of domestic events, the Minister cited the “Altai – Golden Cradle of the Turkic World” festival in Katon-Karagay. The event drew nearly 10,000 visitors over four days, creating a surge in demand that saw local residents renting out homes for up to 100,000 tenge per night—a significant boost for the rural economy.

Regarding international travel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs identified four primary destinations that remain secure and accessible despite Middle Eastern instability: Turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Maldives.
