Kazakh middleweight boxer Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (15-0, 10 KOs) won a unification fight against German champion Vincenzo Gualtieri (21-1-1, 7 KOs) on October 14, 2023. The fight ended with Alimkhanuly’s victory by technical knockout in the sixth round, TuraNews.kz reports.
Alimkhanuly dominated the fight from the start, landing powerful punches and never allowing Gualtieri to get into a rhythm. In the sixth round, Alimkhanuly landed a flurry of punches that sent Gualtieri to the canvas. The referee stopped the fight, giving Alimkhanuly the victory and unifying the WBO and IBF middleweight titles.
For Alimkhanuly, this is the 15th victory in 15 professional fights and the tenth jubilee knockout. He now holds the WBO and IBF middleweight world championship belts.
Gualtieri suffered the first defeat in his eight-year professional career.
After the fight, Alimkhanuly said that he is going to take all four belts in the middleweight category. He is currently ranked as the No. 1 middleweight in the world by The Ring magazine.
