Real Madrid's striker Karim Benzema wins men's Ballon d'Or
Real Madrid’s French striker Karim Benzema won the Golden Ball (Ballon d’Or) award which is for the best player of the year.
The award, which has been distributed by France Football magazine since 1956, found its owner at the ceremony that held at the Chatelet Theater in Paris, the capital of France. Sandy Heribert and former football player Didier Drogba, who also played for Galatasaray for a while, were the hosts of the ceremony.
The 34-year-old captain of Real Madrid, Benzema, became the owner of the “Golden Ball” for the first time in his career. Benzema played a leading role in making his club the UEFA Champions League and Spanish First League (La Liga) champions by scoring 44 goals in 46 matches in all lanes last season.
