International Forum Of Central Asian Women Scientists Held In Tashkent

On February 11, marking the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the “SheSCIENCE 2026” forum brought together leading women researchers from across Central Asia in Tashkent.

The event was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Committee on Family and Women Affairs, the Asian Development Bank, and TWAS – The World Academy of Sciences.

Nearly 200 women scientists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan attended the forum alongside representatives of government agencies, international organizations and academic institutions.

Kanokpan Lao-Araiya, Director of the Asian Development Bank’s Uzbekistan office, and TWAS Vice President Sabah Al-Mumin highlighted the importance of strengthening support for women in science, advancing gender equality and expanding regional scientific cooperation.
