First-Ever Nailya Bazanova Award Launched for Women Scientists in Kazakhstan

A prestigious accolade named after Kazakhstan and Central Asia's first woman academician, Nailya Bazanova, has been introduced to honor women scientists for their exceptional contributions.

The initiative, aimed at fostering further advancements in science, was announced by the National Academy of Sciences, as revealed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In anticipation of International Women’s Day, a significant occasion was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the patronage of the country’s President. The event took place at the Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University, attracting over 70 leading female scientists from various regions across the nation. These outstanding individuals were bestowed with certificates of honor by the National Academy of Sciences.

During his address, President of the National Academy of Sciences, Akhilbek Kurishbaev, underscored the long-standing tradition in Kazakhstan of commemorating International Women’s Day as an official holiday. He emphasized its significance as a day celebrating spring, feminine beauty, tenderness, spiritual wisdom, and recognition of the invaluable contributions of women across political, economic, and social domains.

Kurishbaev highlighted the pivotal role played by women in scientific progress, constituting nearly 60% of the scientific workforce.

In a solemn ceremony, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, under the auspices of the President, acknowledged the remarkable achievements of women scientists through the presentation of distinguished awards.
