Leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) met in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, on Wednesday to discuss plans for the further development of integration processes in the bloc, Turanews.kz reports.
The meeting was attended by the prime ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
In his speech, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, said that the EAEU has made significant progress in its first 10 years, but that there is still more work to be done.
He stressed the importance of following the goals and objectives that were set when the union was formed, and of ensuring that the peoples and business communities of the EAEU countries feel the concrete benefits of integration.
Smailov also said that Kazakhstan is interested in strengthening industry and the agro-industrial complex through the implementation of mutually beneficial cooperation projects, strengthening transport and logistics cooperation, and creating a common financial market.
He also called for the development of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the institution of observer states, as well as cooperation with interested foreign states.
The other leaders at the meeting expressed their support for Smailov’s proposals, and they agreed to continue working together to further integrate the EAEU.
