Central Asia’s Largest Pop Culture Festival Kicks Off in the Capital
Today, Central Asia's largest geek-culture festival, Comic Con Astana 2026, officially kicked off in the capital, bringing together fans of cinema, comics, video games, anime, and cosplay, the official website of the Astana Akimat reports.
This year, the festival is taking place across two venues simultaneously. The main stage program is hosted at the Barys Arena, while the Alau Ice Palace houses the exhibition zone. Over the course of four days, visitors will enjoy meetings and autograph sessions with international headliners, a cosplay contest, musical and dance performances, interactive zones, thematic stands, and a festival fair.
On the festival’s opening day, attendees can enjoy performances by creative groups on the Pop Asia stage. The schedule also includes amateur cosplay competitions in adult and children’s categories, a concert program, and Q&A sessions with special guests. One of the day’s main highlights is the official opening ceremony of Comic Con Astana 2026.
Comic Con Astana unites not only modern pop-culture enthusiasts, but also artists, designers, cosplayers, musicians, dance crews, and creators of various themed projects. For many participants, the festival offers an opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience and exchange experience with like-minded people.
A central event of the festival remains the traditional cosplay contest, where participants present self-crafted costumes of characters from movies, TV series, video games, comics, and anime.
Comic Con Astana will run through August 9. Over the coming days, guests can look forward to meetings with international stars, autograph sessions, competitive programs, specialized thematic areas, and various other activities tailored for pop-culture fans.
