Bureau of National Statistics Discredits Claims of Kazakhstan’s High Divorce Rate

The Bureau of National Statistics has refuted claims suggesting that Kazakhstan ranks second globally in divorce rates, clarifying that such information is false.

Reports indicating Kazakhstan’s second position in divorce rates, following the Maldives with a rate of 4.6, have been debunked by the Bureau. The primary source of this misinformation was identified as an article on worldpopulationreview.com.

According to the Bureau’s data, the divorce rate at the conclusion of 2022 stood at 2.27 per 1,000 people. This demonstrates a decline compared to the rates of 2.56 and 2.54 recorded in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Final figures for 2023 are anticipated to be released in April.

Having identified the inaccuracies, the Bureau has taken action by sending a letter to the authors of the article, addressing the dissemination of erroneous data on the global platform.

Earlier it was reported that as of March 4, 2024, Kazakhstan ranked second globally in terms of divorce rate, following the Maldives with a rate of 4.6 per 1000 people, according to the article on worldpopulationreview.com.
