Azerbaijan Reports 15% Decline in Water Resources

A representative from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has highlighted a concerning decrease in the country's water resources, amounting to approximately 15 percent.

Speaking at the Water-Climate Summit held at ADA University, Deputy Head of the National Hydrometeorological Service, Akber Asgarov, underscored the gravity of climate change as a global issue. He emphasized the adverse effects of climate change specifically on water resources.

Asgarov pointed out ongoing observations of water bodies across Azerbaijan, revealing evident consequences of global warming. He attributed the observed 15 percent reduction in Azerbaijan’s water resources to this phenomenon.

Furthermore, he emphasized the significance of the upcoming COP29 conference to be hosted by Azerbaijan, highlighting its potential for extensive discussions on managing challenges toward achieving a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
