On the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Spain on October 6, 2023, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a declaration recognizing the territory of Azerbaijan as 86,600 square kilometers, including the lands of Karabakh, TuraNews.kz reports.
This represents a significant step towards resolving the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev previously refused to participate in a meeting with the EU, Germany and France in Granada.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has also stated that Armenia itself recognized Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan in the past.
