2024 Davis Cup Qualifying Draw Revealed: Kazakhstan Faces Argentina

The draw for the qualifying round of the 2024 Davis Cup, held in Malaga, Spain, has unveiled the matchups, TuraNews.kz reports citing the press service of Tennis Federation Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakhstan men’s tennis team is set to compete against the formidable Argentine team in the upcoming qualifiers. Led by captain Yuri Shchukin, the Kazakhstani team will embark on away matches against the Argentina national team on either February 2-3 or 3-4, 2024. These matches serve as a crucial qualifying stage for the World Team Championship’s final phase. The exact dates for the matches will be determined by the Argentinian team at a later time. The qualifying fixtures will encompass four singles matches and one doubles match.

This encounter marks the third time Kazakhstan and Argentina will face each other in Davis Cup history. In 2011, the Kazakhstani team suffered a 0:5 defeat in the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires. However, in 2017, in Astana, during the playoff qualifying stage, Kazakhstan emerged victorious with a score of 3:2. Presently, in the world rankings, the Kazakhstan team holds the 13th position, while the Argentine team ranks 19th.
