The high-ranking guest was welcomed at the capital’s airport by the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. From the moment it crossed the state border of Kazakhstan until its landing at the Astana airport, the Russian President’s aircraft was escorted by fighter jets of the Air Defense Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A company of the honor guard was assembled at the steps of the presidential plane. Vladimir Putin and members of the official delegation were greeted by children waving the flags of both countries and female drummers from the Makhambet Utemisov Palace of Schoolchildren. Following this, helicopters carrying the flags of Russia and Kazakhstan flew over the runway.
Inside the airport terminal, a combined ensemble of dombra players from the Al-Farabi Palace of Schoolchildren and accordionist Radmir Khaibullin, a laureate of international competitions, performed a medley of Kurmangazy’s kuis and Russian musical pieces for the Russian leader.
