Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Agree to Advance Transport Cooperation

Within the framework of the 18th meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, the Minister of Transport of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, met with his Kazakh counterpart, Nurlan Sauranbayev. Azim Ibrohim emphasized that Tajikistan attaches great importance to developing transport cooperation with Kazakhstan, identifying it as one of its key partners in Central Asia.

It was noted that following the results of the first four months of 2026, a positive trend was observed in road cargo transportation between the countries: the total volume of transportation increased by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2025, while the number of vehicles grew by 17.9%.

An increase in rail transport and transit through the territory of Kazakhstan was also highlighted. In 2025, the total volume of rail transportation exceeded 5.6 million tons, which is over 621,000 tons more than the figure for 2024. The parties discussed the further development of international transport corridors, the simplification of transit procedures, the digitalization of transportation, and increasing the capacity of infrastructure between the two nations.
