The two-day working visit of Kazakhstan’s Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the Russian Federation has concluded, TuraNews.kz reports citing Akorda.
Invitation to St. Petersburg:
President Tokayev visited St. Petersburg on December 25, responding to an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Meeting:
The leaders convened at the presidential library named after BN Yeltsin for the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC). President Tokayev, alongside President Putin and leaders from Armenia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, participated in both the small and expanded compositions of the JEEC (Joint Meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council).
Global Challenges and Achievements:
President Tokayev acknowledged the challenges of the past year, emphasizing global instability. He congratulated President Putin on the successful completion of Russia’s chairmanship of the Organization. Additionally, he wished Prime Minister Pashinyan success as Armenia assumes the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union bodies in 2024.
Informal Meeting of CIS Member States:
President Tokayev took part in an informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS member states. Discussions focused on priority directions for the organization’s activities, plans for strengthening mutual cooperation, and current issues within the CIS.
Bilateral Meetings:
President Tokayev held bilateral meetings with various leaders during his visit, including President Putin, President Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia, President Lukashenko of Belarus, President Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, President Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan, and President Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan. The leaders also visited cultural facilities in St. Petersburg.
The visit aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and addressing shared challenges, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between Kazakhstan and its neighboring nations.
