
In an interview with state media TDH, he emphasized that water scarcity is a major regional challenge. Turkmenistan advocates three key principles: adherence to international law, consideration of all countries’ interests, and involvement of global organizations like the UN.
He proposed establishing a Regional Water Management Council and supported UN conventions on the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers.
Discussing energy, Berdimuhamedow highlighted major projects, including the TAPI gas pipeline and infrastructure expansion. He reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to cooperate with Europe on gas exports via the Trans-Caspian route, a right enshrined in the Caspian Sea Convention.
The country is also investing in renewable energy, constructing a 1,574 MW power plant on its Caspian coast.
