На заводе BYD в Джизаке выпущены первые электромобили
The BYD plant in Jizzakh has commenced production of electric vehicles, marking a significant milestone since its launch earlier this year during the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to China. This project, valued at $160 million for its first phase, boasts a production capacity of 50 thousand electric vehicles annually.
The joint venture is equipped with state-of-the-art industrial infrastructure, including nearly 2 kilometers of railway tracks, a component warehouse, and a logistics center housing 1.2 thousand containers, TuraNews.kz reports citing Uza Agency.
The plant is outfitted with advanced equipment and robotic systems imported from China, ensuring an automated production process. A specialized laboratory is also operational for precise testing of the geometric dimensions of electric vehicles.
During his visit, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected these facilities and engaged in discussions with Chinese partners. Currently, the plant produces the Chazor and Song Plus Champion models, with President Mirziyoyev having ceremonially signed the first electric cars.
Future plans for the plant include expanding the model range in the coming years. The second phase of the project, estimated at $300 million, aims to increase production to 200 thousand electric vehicles annually. Subsequently, the third phase, valued at $500 million, targets a production capacity of up to 500 thousand electric vehicles per year.
Presently, the plant employs 1.2 thousand individuals, with plans to train an additional 92 specialists this year in various aspects of production and maintenance through partnerships with UzAuto Motors and Chinese training centers in Xi’an and Changsha. Upon completion of all project phases, employment opportunities are expected to grow significantly, reaching up to 10 thousand jobs.
