Uzbekistan’s Gas Imports Hit $360.2 Million in First Quarter

According to data from the Statistics Agency, Uzbekistan imported gas worth $360.2 million in the first quarter of the year.

This figure marks a significant increase of 2.4 times compared to the same period last year when gas imports amounted to $152.9 million. Remarkably, this also represents more than half of all gas imports for the entire year of 2023, which totaled $694.9 million.

Breaking down the imports by month, January saw gas imports valued at $35.6 million, followed by a substantial increase in February to $131.1 million, and further growth in March to $193.5 million. The Statistics Agency, however, does not disclose the physical volumes of these supplies.

In addition to imports, Uzbekistan has also exported gas worth $45.4 million since the beginning of the year. January recorded exports valued at $21 million, followed by $5.7 million in February, and $18.7 million in March.
