Uzbekistan Records Over 5,000 Corruption Cases in 2025

Uzbekistan registered more than 5,000 corruption-related crimes in 2025, according to official data cited by Kazinform.

Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov reported that the overall number of such crimes declined by 8.6% compared to the previous year. Authorities documented 5,222 cases in 2025, down from 5,716 in 2024.

Most corruption offenses were uncovered within the healthcare sector, as well as in the ministries responsible for preschool and secondary education. A significant number of violations were also reported in local government bodies.

Regionally, bribery cases were most frequently recorded in the Fergana and Surkhandarya regions. Meanwhile, a downward trend was observed in Khorezm, Kashkadarya, Tashkent and Samarkand regions.

According to Burkhanov, 12 district and city-level governors were held accountable for corruption-related offenses. More than 300 cases were identified within local administrations, with over 80% of them involving assistants to regional and district heads.

Officials say efforts to curb corruption remain a priority, as authorities continue to strengthen oversight across key public sectors.
