Turkmenistan and EU Discuss Energy Technology Exchange

On April 12, 2024, Turkmenistan's delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the State Concern Türkmengaz, Murad Archaev, convened with Stefano Grassi, Head of the Cabinet of the European Commissioner for Energy, in Brussels, Belgium.

The meeting aimed to bolster cooperation between Turkmenistan and  EU in the energy sector, focusing particularly on technology exchange. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium provided details of the discussions.

Key topics included the historical backdrop of relations between Central Asia and EU, Turkmenistan’s potential in the global energy market – notably its substantial natural gas reserves and supply capabilities – as well as various infrastructure projects and collaboration mechanisms.

Subsequently, the Turkmen delegation engaged with Tibor Stelbatsky, Chief Adviser on Energy Diplomacy of the European External Action Service, with a special focus on cooperation in renewable energy sources, methane emissions reduction, and natural gas supplies from Turkmenistan.

Simultaneously, the Turkmenistan-EU Working Group on Energy convened in Brussels, marking another milestone in the ongoing dialogue between the two entities.
