Türkiye will help build a school for children of Ahiska Turks in Bishkek
Funds for the implementation of the project will be allocated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the TİKA agency and the Turkish Education Foundation
Türkiye is ready to allocate funds for the construction of a school for Ahiska Turk children in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, Turanews.kz reports.
Turkish Ambassador to Bishkek Ahmet Sadik Dogan said this at an iftar (breaking the fast – an evening meal for Muslims during the Islamic month of Ramadan) with the participation of Ahiska Turks in the Kyrgyz capital.
The head of the diplomatic mission noted that part of the cost of building the school will be covered by the Turkish authorities. The project will be supported by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Turkish Education Foundation, Doğan explained.
The rest of the expenses will be borne by Ahiska Turkish entrepreneurs, the project is scheduled for September, he said.
The Iftar was also attended by a member of the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Education Foundation, Professor Nevzat Shimshek, TİKA coordinator in Bishek Osman Usta, Rector of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Professor Alpaslan Ceylan and representatives of the Assembly of the People of Kyrgyzstan.

The deportation of the Ahiska Turks to Central Asia was carried out on the orders of Stalin on November 14, 1944.
