Türkiye expresses condolences over loss of life in forest fires in Kazakhstan

The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed condolences in connection with the lost lives as a result of forest fires in the Abay region of Kazakhstan , Turanews.kz reports.

“With deep sadness, we received the news of the death of 14 foresters as a result of fires in the Abay region. We express our condolences to the friendly and fraternal people and the government of Kazakhstan,” the ministry said on Twitter.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared June 12 a day of national mourning for those killed in the wildfi in the Abai region.

On the territory of the Batpaevsky forestry there was a fire of trees on a preliminary area of 0.3 hectares. All 14 foresters died in a fire in the Abay region. 316 people were evacuated due to the fire in the area. The government and the akimat of the Abay region were instructed to provide all necessary assistance to the families of the victims. For residents evacuated because of the fire, 9 points were prepared in Semey.
