Türkiye earthquake death toll nears 40,000
The death toll from the earthquake in Türkiye approached 40,000, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, Suleyman Soylu, announced on Friday.
“According to the latest data, 39,672 people were killed and 105,505 people were injured as a result of the two earthquakes,” he said on the national channel TRT .
On February 6, 2023, powerful earthquakes occured in Türkiye. In the vicinity of Gaziantep, their magnitude was 7.7 points, the source lay at a depth of 10 kilometers. An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 occurred in Türkiye’s Kahramanmaras, the epicenter was in the Pazarchik region at a depth of 7 kilometers.
