Türkiye Detains Leaders of International Criminal Organizations

Turkish security forces have successfully apprehended three leaders of international criminal organizations, all of whom were subjects of Interpol Red Bulletins.

The announcement was made by Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya via social media on Tuesday, December 19.

The arrests took place as part of Operation Kafes-21, a coordinated effort in Alanya (Antalya) and Istanbul, led by the Anti-Drug Crime Department of the Turkish Police Headquarters.

One of the detainees, Thomas Joseph Conrad, was apprehended in the Alanya area of Antalya province. Conrad, wanted under an Interpol red notice, had been leading an organized criminal group involved in drug trafficking activities spanning from Poland to Italy and Spain, with subsequent distribution to other European countries.

Jinqing Peng, wanted in China for charges related to “fraud and illegal activities,” was captured by Turkish security forces in Istanbul’s Fatih district, as disclosed by the Minister.

The third detainee, Daniel Alexander Müller, who was urgently sought in Germany for his involvement in a one-ton cocaine trafficking operation, was arrested in Istanbul’s Beyoğlu district.
