Turkish Investors to Construct Combined Cycle Plant in Shymkent

The city's akimat press service reports that construction of the facility will commence soon.

Shymkent City Mayor, Gabit Syzdykbekov, and representatives from the Turkish company Aksa Energy, led by Murad Yustel, have signed a memorandum to commence a project for building a combined cycle gas plant (CCGT) in the city with a capacity of up to 500 MW.

Mayor Syzdykbekov highlighted the positive impact of introducing this new project on improving the city’s environmental conditions, as well as the additional revenue it will generate for the budget.

The investment project, estimated at around $700 million, aims to provide the city’s population with high-quality electrical and thermal energy, along with hot water supply. The construction phase is expected to create over 1,000 job opportunities, with more than 200 local residents securing employment post-launch.

Expressing gratitude to the Turkish company for its interest and direct investment in the city’s energy sector, Mayor Syzdykbekov affirmed his commitment to providing full support for the swift implementation of this collaborative venture.
