Telegram Reaches 900 Million Monthly Users, Tops App Charts Worldwide

Telegram messenger is used by 900 million people every month, half of them open the application every day. This was announced by the founder of the project Pavel Durov.

“Telegram has reached 900 million monthly users. Half of these 900 million users open Telegram every day. According to DataAI, Telegram is the most used and downloaded app in the world,” he wrote in his blog.

Durov said that the messenger demonstrated “positive cash flow” in the first quarter of this year.

Telegram became available to the general public in 2013. In 2022, Telegram for the first time overtook WhatsApp (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) in terms of user traffic: its share among messengers exceeded 60–80% of the total volume.
