Rahmon engaged in talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, delving into various aspects of bilateral cooperation and the current state of the strategic partnership between the two nations. The discussions covered trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation, along with security matters. The leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
In particular, discussions unfolded around collaboration in the agricultural sector, with an emphasis on expanding the export of environmentally friendly Tajik agricultural products to Russia. The leaders also explored significant opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism.
A ceremony at the Kremlin Palace honored Emomali Rahmon with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
Following the comprehensive discussions, Tajikistan and Russia signed a new package of cooperation documents.
In a joint press briefing, both leaders addressed the media. President Rahmon highlighted Tajikistan’s commitment to green energy, revealing that the country currently generates 98% of its electricity from hydroelectric power plants, ranking sixth globally in this regard. He announced plans to double the clean energy production capacity, positioning it as a cornerstone for promoting a green economy. Tajikistan expressed readiness to host energy-intensive industries using environmentally friendly energy sources and invited constructive cooperation with Russia in these areas.
Rahmon extended an invitation to Russian businesses for collaboration in exploring Tajikistan’s rich deposits of minerals, including critical resources in high demand. He also invited President Putin to visit Tajikistan on an official visit at a mutually convenient time, emphasizing the strong ties and potential for fruitful cooperation between the two nations.
