Tajikistan and China’s XUAR to Collaborate on Joint Industrial Ventures

Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavkizoda Zavki Amin, recently held an unofficial working meeting with Sun Hongmei, Deputy Chairman of the Government of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, in Urumqi city.

During the meeting, Minister Zavkizoda highlighted Tajikistan’s vast potential in trade, economy, industry, energy, and agriculture.

Both parties reached an agreement to initiate the establishment of joint industrial enterprises, solar power plants, mineral processing facilities, e-commerce ventures, and the export of Tajikistani products to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

It was emphasized that Tajikistan’s external trade with the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region totaled $1.2 billion in 2023, marking a 24% increase from the previous year.

Furthermore, Minister Zavkizoda extended an invitation to Deputy Chairman Sun Hongmei to attend an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Kulma-Karasu customs and border crossing’s opening. The event is scheduled to take place in late May 2024 in the Murghab district and Dushanbe, and the invitation was warmly welcomed.
