Storm Warning Issued Across Kazakhstan for Wednesday

Kazhydromet has reported a storm warning covering almost the entirety of Kazakhstan for Wednesday.

According to the announcement, various regions of Kazakhstan are expected to experience strong winds and adverse weather conditions.

In Astana, northeast and easterly winds with gusts of 15-20 m/s are forecasted during the day.

The Akmola region will witness similar winds, initially from the northeast and east, shifting to the west and south later in the day.

In the Zhetysu region, northwest winds of 15-20 m/s, with gusts reaching 25 m/s, are anticipated throughout the day.

The Kyzylorda region expects thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon, particularly in the central and northern areas, with southwest winds of 15-20 m/s.

The Almaty region is bracing for thunderstorms, hail, and squalls in its western, southern, and mountainous areas, alongside a dust storm during the day in the central region. Wind speeds of 15-20 m/s, peaking at 25 m/s, are expected.

Similar weather patterns are forecasted across other regions, including Aktobe, Atyrau, Kostanay, West Kazakhstan, Ulytau, Karaganda, Mangistau, North Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Turkestan, and East Kazakhstan.

Additionally, in the Abay and East Kazakhstan regions, intensive snowmelt in the mid-mountain zone may lead to slope runoff, resulting in increased water levels in rivers and streams, potentially causing flooding in residential areas and disruption to transportation routes from April 23 to April 26, 2024.
