Rybakina retires from UAE tournament due to illness

World No. 3 and Kazakhstan’s top tennis player Elena Rybakina withdrew from the tournament in the United Arab Emirates after being unable to complete her third-round match,.

Rybakina retired in the third set of her match against Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic. The match ended with a score of 7–5, 4–6, 0–1.

According to Sportarena.kz, the Kazakh athlete felt unwell during the match. During a medical timeout, she reported nausea, lack of sleep, and a headache.

The tournament champion will receive $665,000 in prize money (approximately 327.2 million tenge) as well as 1,000 ranking points in the WTA standings.
