Roche and Pfizer to Establish Medicine Production in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is set to witness a significant boost in pharmaceutical manufacturing as Roche and Pfizer join forces to produce essential medicines within the country. The Ministry of Health has issued clarifications on the collaboration with these pharmaceutical giants, TuraNews.kz reports.

Current initiatives are focused on attracting investments crucial for technology transfer and groundbreaking developments. The Ministry is actively engaged in ongoing projects with various partners, including BIGPHARMA and investors from the USA, Switzerland, South Korea, Turkey, Germany, and Japan, particularly on contract manufacturing endeavors. These projects, now in varying stages of implementation, aim to bring innovative and unique medicines to Kazakhstan, ensuring the utilization of state-of-the-art medical equipment.

The Almaty Nobel Pharmaceutical Factory JSC is gearing up to produce anti-cancer drugs from Roche starting from the second half of 2024. This move aligns with the broader objective of enhancing the availability of advanced pharmaceuticals within the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, collaborative efforts with Pfizer are underway for the development of the pneumococcal vaccine project, known as “Prevenar-20,” within Kazakhstan. A preliminary investment agreement is in progress, and the commencement date for vaccine production will be determined through this agreement, as explained by the Ministry. This strategic partnership aims to address healthcare needs and contribute to the production of essential vaccines to benefit the population.
