Restriction on coal trade in Kazakhstan

Temporary restrictions were imposed due to the transportation of coal to border regions by vehicles and its resale in neighboring countries.

In the news conveyed by the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it was stated that a temporary restriction was imposed on coal exports by vehicle at land border.

With the order of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 14.09.2022 and numbered 514, a ban was imposed on the export of vehicles and coal to foreign countries.

A temporary restriction was imposed due to the transportation of Kazakh coal, which is holds a great importance for the heating needs of the society and public spaces, to the border regions by vehicles and resale in neighboring countries.

The Ministry said in a statement, “This law was prepared by the joint decision of the Ministry with local coal loading areas and regional governers. The main purpose of the law is to realize the heating plans which ones set for households and institutions in 2022-2023 and to prevent a coal crisis that may occur in the domestic market.
