Putin Anticipates Meeting with Erdogan in July in Astana

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit is scheduled in Astana on July 3-4.

Russian President Vladimir Putin looks forward to meeting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in July during the summit in Astana, TuraNews.kz reports citing the TASS agency.

“I would like to extend my best wishes to President Erdogan. I am hopeful that we can meet in early July, likely on the 3rd-4th, during the international event in Astana. This will give us a chance to discuss all current matters,” Putin said during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit will occur on July 3-4 in Astana.

In response, the Turkish Foreign Minister conveyed Erdogan’s greetings to Putin. During the meeting at the Kremlin, Fidan thanked Putin for the hospitality. “President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sends his regards to you,” Fidan told Putin.

Fidan also emphasized Putin’s remarks about the collaboration between Russia and Türkiye in various fields, assuring that Ankara is making every effort to resolve conflicts in certain regions globally.

Putin expressed satisfaction with the development of relations with Türkiye, noting, “All of this is happening under the leadership and direct support of our friend, the President of Türkiye.”

Putin mentioned that while there was notable growth in 2023, the beginning of 2024 saw a slight decline in trade turnover, attributing it to price adjustments, and expressed hope for an improvement soon.

It’s worth noting that yesterday in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss economic relations and future prospects.
