President Tokayev Welcomes Xi Jinping in Akorda

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Kazakhstan on July 2 for a state visit to attend the SCO summit. On July 3, he was received by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Akorda residence.

During the meeting, Tokayev and Xi Jinping introduced their official delegations. The ceremony included a greeting report from the head of the honor guard and the playing of the national anthems of both countries.

Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of promoting a multipolar world. The visit includes high-level bilateral talks and the signing of several key agreements.

Additionally, Xi Jinping will participate in the 24th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The summit, chaired by Kazakhstan, will take place at the Palace of Independence in the capital on July 3-4.

President Tokayev highlighted that the Astana summit will focus on “Strengthening Multilateral Dialogue – The Pursuit of Sustainable Peace and Development.” Leaders from 16 countries, including Kazakhstan, India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Qatar, UAE, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan, will attend.

The SCO Secretary-General, the Executive Director of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure, the UN Secretary-General, and leaders of various international organizations and observer countries are also expected to participate.
