President Tokayev Expresses Condolences to Russia Following Dagestan Terror Attacks

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the recent terrorist attacks in Dagestan. These attacks targeted Orthodox churches and a synagogue, resulting in casualties among clergy and law enforcement officials, according to a report from the Akorda press service.

President Tokayev offered Kazakhstan’s assistance in conducting investigative operations through its law enforcement agencies. He strongly condemned the inhumane acts and called for enhanced international cooperation in combating terrorism under the auspices of organizations like the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The attacks occurred on the evening of June 23 in the cities of Derbent and Makhachkala, where unknown assailants attacked a synagogue and a church. In response, a counter-terrorist operation regime was declared in Dagestan. The death toll among police officers has risen to 15, with six militants reported killed. Dagestan has declared days of mourning from June 24 to June 26.
