President of Mongolia Arrives in Astana for SCO Summit

The President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh arrived in Astana to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

Khürelsükh was welcomed at the airport by Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Galymzhan Koishybaev, as reported by the government press service.

“Mongolia was the first state to receive observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2004. At that time, the organization expanded geographically, reflecting the growing international authority of the SCO. Besides traditionally friendly political relations, trade and economic interactions form a solid basis for bilateral cooperation. By the end of 2023, trade turnover between Mongolia and Kazakhstan reached $133 million,” stated the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have already arrived in Astana for the summit. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has also flown to Almaty.
