According to data released by the Russian Central Election Commission, Putin has secured a significant 87.32% of the votes. These figures are based on the processing of 96% of the voting protocols.
The elections, which took place from March 15 to March 17, saw Putin running as a self-nominated candidate. As the counting of votes concluded on Monday morning, March 18, a staggering 99.65% of the protocols had been processed, solidifying Putin’s overwhelming lead.
Putin’s closest contenders in the race trailed far behind. Nikolai Kharitonov, representing the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, garnered 4.30% of the vote, while Vladislav Davankov of the New People party secured 3.82%. Leonid Slutsky, the candidate from the LDPR party, trailed with 3.20% of the vote.
At 71 years old, Vladimir Putin has clinched his fifth term as the Head of State, extending his tenure that began in 2000. This victory cements his status as the longest-serving Russian leader in the past century.
