Police Helicopter Crashes in Türkiye, Claiming Two Pilots’ Lives
Two police officers lost their lives when their helicopter crashed in Gaziantep province, while returning from a mission in Hatay city. The tragic accident occurred on February 3.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Türkiye, Ali Yerlikaya, shared details, stating that the helicopter from the air fleet of the General Directorate of Police crashed in the city of Kartal Koyu, Nurda district.
Minister Yerlikaya mentioned, “The EM 708 helicopter was flying from Hatay Airport to Gaziantep Airport, and the last contact with the crew was at 22:49 local time.”
Emergency response units, including the National Medical Rescue Service (UMKE), rescuers, gendarmerie personnel, and teams from the Turkish Disaster Management Agency (AFAD), were promptly dispatched to the crash site. The injured policeman was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
